
After dinner is served, many passengers become ill, and his colleague Dr. Rumack passengers (Leslie Nielsen) soon realizes that one meal options, which were fish, provides passengers with food poisoning. The commissioners found that the pilot crew, including pilots Clarence Oveur (Peter Graves) and co-pilot Roger Murdock (Kareem Abdul-Jabaar), all came from food poisoning, leaving no one on board to drive the plane. Elaine contact the control tower in Chicago for help and was tasked by the tower supervisor Steve McCroskey (Lloyd Bridges) to activate the aircraft's autopilot, a large blow-up doll named "Otto", who will to Chicago, but will not be able to land the plane. Elaine realizes that her attacker is the only pilot on board who has not succumbed to food poisoning, is their only chance, and he is convinced to fly the plane, but he still feels the trauma of prevent it from landing safely.
McCroskey knows he must find someone else to help them talk to the aircraft down and calls Rex Kramer (Robert Stack). Kramer Striker and have served together in war and must overcome the animosity. As the aircraft gets closer to Chicago, the attacker becomes more and more stressed and can not land the plane after a pep talk from Dr Rumack. With Kramer steady stream of advice, the attacker is able to overcome his fears and land safely on the plane with minor injuries to some passengers. Attacking the courage of love revives Elaine for him, and the two share a kiss while Otto takes off in the plane evacuated after a swell companion.
